The panelists will discuss acquisition-rehab deals that were all the rage at the height of the last boom period and the fact that many of them never lived up to their underwriting promises. But as rent growth resumes, developers are finding more opportunities to turn around troubled properties. This panel will deliver tips on finding the best rehab deals and identifying which upgrades provide the most value to an apartment community.

ANN ARBOR, MIMcKinley is pleased to announce that it has been appointed receiver by the Iowa District Court for Black Hawk County for a 67,250 square foot office building in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The building, which was constructed in 2002, was well occupied until recently when a large tenant vacated the building.

ANN ARBOR, MIMcKinley Commercial Client Services is pleased to announce the successful workout and disposition of Kelly Road Self-Storage, a 499 unit storage facility in Ft. Myers, FL. McKinley was appointed receiver of the property on June 10, 2010 and later assumed property management after the foreclosure of the asset. The value of the asset increased significantly due to the repositioning strategy employed by McKinley.

The building is currently 87% occupied with current tenants including the University of Phoenix and the Climatic Corporation.

Jill is a Regional Director, Property Operations, Pam is the Senior Regional Property Manager, Midwest and Robin is takeover specialist also assigned to the Midwest.

Norfolk, VA Diane O'Brien, the driving force behind McKinley's J.A.N.A.F. Shopping Yard in Norfolk, VA recently announced her upcoming retirement after a total of 26 years working at the retail center, the last 23 years of them with McKinley.
"Approximately 23 years ago we acquired J.A.N.A.F. Shopping Yard and the best was yet to come -- Diane O'Brien was leading the show when we bought the property. Now, a brief 23 years later, after many "ups" and many "downs", J.A.N.A.F is the most important retail center of its kind in all of the state of Virginia with more than 1 million square feet and currently sitting at 99% occupancy," exclaimed Albert M.
