Training and Development Programs
McKinley University is an internal training and development program that offers all McKinley Team Members the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in many facets of business and leadership. The full catalog of courses includes such skill sets as: communication, leadership, technical / trades, computer, financial, marketing, and property management just to list a few. Every employee is encouraged to take advantage of these tremendous offerings.
When joining McKinley in a leadership role, you will attend many developmental offerings to help new McKinley leaders ensure success. We not only encourage new leadership to experience the curriculum but also encourage employees that have an interest in pursuing a career in leadership to attend as well. We offer courses in communication, legal compliance, managing performance issues, conflict resolution, coaching and feedback, and successful staffing just to name a few.
The curriculum is designed to touch upon every aspect a leader will encounter in their role. The courses provide a foundation that will afford leaders resources and tools to help ensure their success in their new role.
When joining McKinley in a sales role, you will be exposed to a wealth of development to help ensure your success. In the beginning weeks you will have the opportunity to experience the following programs: New Employee Orientation, Fair Housing, Highly Successful Sales, and Customer Service Excellence.
The development doesn't stop after your first week with us. We offer several developmental sessions for on-going growth. The curriculum expands to touch upon Renewals, Pre-Leasing Strategies, Marketing Strategy,and Understanding Financials just to name a few.
When joining McKinley in a maintenance oriented role, you will be exposed to many different types of developmental offerings. Maintenance professionals will have the chance to attend certification programs, hands-on developmental coursework in drywall, electrical, heating, plumbing and many others. In addition, our maintenance team members will be exposed to monthly safety trainings and developmental programs.
The coursework is designed to support growth and development of our entire maintenance structure. Each course is built around the maintenance ladder, which is designed to move maintenance professionals forward in their career with McKinley.
McKinley has created an exciting partnership with Washtenaw Community College. This partnership has paved a path for many of McKinley's maintenance professionals to attend formal classroom work in the field of property management while obtaining an accredited degree. With the success of the program to date, we are exploring expanding the program nationwide.
McKinley helps pay tuition for courses at accredited institutions of post-secondary education and state licensed vocational schools. The purpose of the program is to allow employees to prepare for other opportunities with McKinley and to further develop in their current positions.
