Mr. Hamp currently serves as a vision and strategy consultant at Hamp Advisors, LLC. Mr. Hamp served as Vice president and Chief of Staff for Ford Motor Company where he was an advisor to Ford Chairman and CEO Bill Ford.

Albert M. Berriz, Chief Executive Officer, McKinley is proud to announce the addition of Steven K. Hamp to its Board of Directors. Mr. Hamp currently serves as a vision and strategy consultant at Hamp Advisors, LLC. He has an impressive list of professional skills and experience focused on company and organizational development including strategic planning and implementation, vision and mission development, and institution and civic leadership. Mr. Hamp served as Vice president and Chief of Staff for Ford Motor Company where he was an advisor to Ford Chairman and CEO Bill Ford.
Prior to joining Ford, Mr. Hamp enjoyed a 27-year career at the Henry Ford, during which he rose to serve as the historical institution’s President from 1996 to 2005. Under his leadership, the Henry Ford’s operating infrastructure was fundamentally revised, rebuilt, and expanded to include the establishment of the Henry Ford Academy, a public charter school academy, the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, Michigan’s only auto assembly plant tour open to the public, the Benson Ford Research Center, and other new user experiences and services such as the IMAX® theatre. Mr. Hamp was also responsible for increasing the annual budget from $25M to $55M, increasing the endowment from $175M to $285M, improving visitation from 1 million guests annually to over 1.5 million, and raising capital and project funds in excess of $150M.
In 1999, Mr. Hamp was recognized as a Michiganian of the Year by the Detroit News and in 2000, as the first recipient of the Michigan Environmental Council’s Helen and William Milliken Distinguished Service Award. In 2002, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law degree from the University of Michigan and the Civic Leader Award from the Governor’s Art Awards.
Mr. Hamp’s educational background includes a B.A. in American History from Butler University, M.A. in Folklore/Folklife from Indiana University, M.M.P. (Master of Museum Practice) from the University of Michigan. He has lectured and published widely on issues relating to education and the public role of the cultural community. Committed to his civic leadership responsibilities, Mr. Hamp also serves on numerous boards, executive committees, and task forces.
