Albert M. Berriz Named The Ann Arbor News Citizen of the Year for 2007

ANN ARBOR, MI
For his work with The Neutral Zone, Ann Arbor’s Teen Center, Albert M. Berriz, Chief Executive Officer, McKinley has been named 2007 Citizen of the Year by The Ann Arbor News.

The Board of Directors, Executive Committee and the entire McKinley family joins with The Ann Arbor News in recognizing Albert M. Berriz for being named 2007 Citizen of the Year for his leadership in helping to secure nearly $4.2 million in eighteen months to support the capital campaign for the Neutral Zone, Ann Arbor’s Teen Center.

Mr. Berriz states “McKinley’s core value is to enrich the quality of life in our communities. The Neutral Zone is important to the community and they were at risk with operating deficits and no real home.  We wanted to fix it.”

The NZ draws youth from throughout the region. The center is open to all high-school-age young people. Teens are always welcome to attend ongoing programs including Volume Youth Poetry, Break Dancin’ Basics, Youth Owned Records, Rebel Grrls Music Project, The Mentor Program, and Drop-in Tutoring.
