ALBERT M. BERRIZ DESIGNATED AMERICAN DREAMER
By CRAIN’S DETROIT BUSINESS
Albert M. Berriz, Chief Executive Officer has been designated one of the region’s 29 American Dreamers by Crain’s Detroit. The list features regional community leaders who are foreign born and are helping to fuel the local economy.
According to Crain’s March 26th edition, “Not every one of the 29 Dreamers is just starting life in the area, but each one has done his or her part to build the region’s economy.” The article also states “Between 1995 and 2000 about 10,250 Michigan residents’ ages 25 to 44 years left the region, and during the same period, more than 53,400 foreign born in the same age group made the metro area their home.”
As featured in Crain’s, Berriz’ father, Armando, spent two years orchestrating his family’s safe escape from Cuba, just as communism began in the country. The elder Berriz left behind his real estate business and started over in Miami. This experience had a profound impact on Albert, learning important life lessons from his father. “There are two things no one can take from you, your education, and your willingness to work hard.”
The Board of Directors, Executive Committee and the entire McKinley family joins with Crain’s Detroit Business in recognizing Albert M. Berriz on being selected to the list of American Dreamers 2007.
